Smorgasburg launched in May 2011 as a spin-off of Brooklyn Flea, the popular flea market founded by Jonathan Butler and Eric Demby in 2008. Every Saturday and Sunday from April through November, Smorgasburg showcases 100+ local and regional food vendors to upwards of 10,000 visitors, making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in Brooklyn. In addition to the weekend markets, Smorgasburg oversees the concessions at Central Park SummerStage, runs a pop-up beer garden at the Seaport District NYC, and operates Berg’n, a new beer hall and artisanal food court in Crown Heights.
